Finders Keepers; track down the geckos on Facebook to win

Gecko’s wanted to create a game that gave a heightened sense of their kind of travel; seeing the sites but discovering the unexpected in a way that they could have fun with and reward their fans.
Thinktank Social were engaged to build the app, and bring the Gecko’s Finders Keepers concept to life.
This is a world first for the travel industry. Amongst a mash-up of iconic images from Egypt, and the world, fans are challenged to find six geckos. Players are rewarded not just with the chance to win a trip to Vietnam, but with spot-prizes of instant giveaways and virtual rewards of carefully curated YouTube clips and more.
We absolutely loved building the Gecko’s Finders Keepers Facebook competition! Combining a super-cool look and feel, killer gameplay and utilising Facebook’s shareable functionality, this application gives multiple opportunities for Gecko’s to share hints, tips and messages and engage its fan base. We’ve also created the opportunity for users to share the game with their friends and brag about their score and the prizes they’ve won.
After just six weeks, Finders Keepers generated:
– 10,000 Facebook fans
– 24,525 visits
– 7,253 unique visits
– 69,123,600 impressions
– 2,820 YouTube views
& Gecko’s gave away over $5,000 in prizes!
We used our Social Media fusion platform to track all results and to offer a back end content management system that allowed Gecko’s to update, monitor and ‘turn on’ prizes at any time. Social Media Fusion auto generated emails to the client with winners contact details each time a prize was won, enabling for the simple management and distribution of prizes.
Finders Keepers was such a huge success that Gecko’s have engaged us to design new features and will be launching it again in 2012 with new sponsors and the chance to win a trip to Antarctica!
